Services / User Fees
The Centre for Advanced Microscopy & Materials Characterization offers the following services for a fee:
Note. User fees are charged to help offset some of the costs associated with operating and maintaining the core facility. The funds generated by these fees are key to allowing the network of core facilities within NUCLEUS to effectively support research.
Scanning Electron Microscopy

Service Notes
- Untrained User – The Core Manager (i.e., technician) will be by your side throughout the entire experiment and will assist in sample preparation, imaging, EDS and data collection.
- Trained User – Trained users can operate the equipment alone; however, the Core Manager (i.e., technician) will be available for help and advice. Users are responsible for the safe operation of the instrument.
- *Elemental Maps – Overnight maps are a flat fee of $50 plus set up time charged at the regular SEM rates. Short maps are charged in the normal SEM fee structure. Please contact the Centre for Advanced Microscopy and Materials Characterization for more details.
