About The Core
The Environmental Genomics Facility (EGF) at the University of Windsor is an innovative core facility with the capacity to conduct state-of-the art genomics analyses on tissue and environmental DNA and RNA samples. Located at the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research (GLIER), the facility is supported by a full-time technician and provides a range of services including DNA and RNA extraction and quantitation (fluorescence-based, gel-based, TapeStation, etc.), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), quantitative Real-Time PCR (including both SYBR Green and custom TaqMan OpenArray technology), Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), along with sample prep for NGS and the associated bioinformatic analysis. The instruments are available to users across the University of Windsor, as well as external users in academia, industry, and government.
