Services / User Fees
The X-ray Scattering Facility offers the following services for a fee:
Note. User fees are charged to help offset some of the costs associated with operating and maintaining the core facility. The funds generated by these fees are key to allowing the network of core facilities within NUCLEUS to effectively support research.
Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD)

Service Notes
- * Rates for users from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor.
- 1 When analysis is performed on the phases provided by the client. In case no phases are provided, fees for the qualitative phase analysis will be added to the final bill.
- 2 The list of potential unit cells with presumable space groups ranked based on the LeBail iterative integration.
- 3 Starting structural model should be provided.
- 4 This service includes indexing, structure solution and Rietveld refinement. Client might need to supply chemical information and spectroscopical data to validate the results of structure determination.
- 5 Service includes quick indexing with LeBail iterative algorithm. Phase must be known. The fee is specified per experimental point. E.g., 5 points = 5 x $10 = $50.
- 6 Available gases: nitrogen, carbon dioxide.
- 7 Only available for data collected on Proto LPD-HTS. Service includes analysis of similarity/dissimilarity including with distance matrices, dendrograms and principal component analysis.
- 8 Data acquisition rate is capped at $200/sample for Rietveld refinement and structure determination services.
- 9 Data acquisition rate is capped at $200/sample for Rietveld refinement and structure determination services.
- 10 Data acquisition rate is capped at $200/sample for Rietveld refinement and structure determination services.
- 11 30-50 mg of the sample is needed. Data is collected on Proto AXRD Benchtop equipped with Anton Paar BTS500. The fee is additive to the data acquisition rate for the corresponding instrument.
- 12 10-20 mg of the sample is needed. Unassisted data collection is available only for Bruker D8 DISCOVER. Data can be collected by facility manager on Proto LPD-HTS equipped with Oxford Cryosystems Cobra open-flow chiller. The fee is additive to the data acquisition rate for the corresponding instrument.
- 13 10-20 mg of the sample is needed. Data is collected on Proto LPD-HTS equipped with a high-pressure capillary stage. The fee is additive to the data acquisition rate for the corresponding instrument.
